Workshop: Dyeing natural red dyes on silk (in Dutch and English)

Organisation: Textile Commission and Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands

Jenny Boulboullé participates in this workshop on dyeing with natural red dyes, using medieval and early modern dyestuffs (Lac dye, kermes, madder, brazilwood and cochineal, (new) brazilwood, logwood, annatto, safflower). The workshop is organised by Ana Serrano and Art Proaño from the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (Dutch: RCE). This first edition of the workshop is open for members of the Textile Commission, mostly (museum) professionals outside of academia. Many of the participants are themselves experts in dyeing who want to experiment with new methods based on historical techniques. Jenny gives a short presentation to introduce participants to the ARTECHNE database and documents the reconstructions of historical dye recipes. This workshop has been fully booked, but another one is planned in April 2018. Follow us on twitter today @TextileTTaste @jennyboulboulle @artechne. More information will be posted on our website.
